You did it! You made it past the first week. For this second week, you will put the work you did over summer to good use! We will unpack the novel by analyzing key quotations, moments, symbols and themes - all leading up to our first in-class essay next week.

After our interview and quick refresher on "tone" and "mood", we will launch into a jigsaw style activity, where students will analyze quotations in small groups, and try to put in them into the correct order. We will use this to talk about major events in the novel.

After this discussion, students will have time to review and ask questions about the prompts for our first in-class essay, scheduled for next week, about The Road. Students will have four prompts to choose from*, and will have a week to prepare evidence via different activities.
*Students interested in English 12 Honors must respond to either prompt 3 or 4.
