Unit 1: Da Vincipocalypse Project Resources
Wed/Thurs (9/20,9/21): Microfiction and the Survival Diary: For our second block of the week, we will read short story called "Barbie-Q" to gain an understanding of what makes for a good microfiction. This style of short story writing is something that we will use for the creative writing portion of DaVincipocalypse: The Survival Diary.
The overview for the Survival Diary, as well as other requirements for the Shelter Building project, can be found under "Phase 2 Overview" on the Unit I Project page. See above for the link.
If you were absent, click below for a link to our sample microfiction, "Barbie-Q" by Sandra Cisneros:

After the introduction of the Survival Diary, students will have time to brainstorm their diary entries. It is at the end of class that students will also get more information about the DaVincipocalypse campout, and will receive the permission slip for the campout.
Permission slips are due in class on Tuesday, 9/27.
Friday (9/22): Build Week Prep and Visiting Architects: For our final block of the week, we will take some time to prepare for building our full scale model shelters starting next week. Student will have a very special opportunity to meet up with some visiting, professional architects to get feedback on their shelter ideas!
NOTE: On Saturday, 9/23, students will have the opportunity to meet up with Stoll at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Gardena as an opportunity to get free materials to build with! See the Unit I Project page for more details!
Yours Truly,
---Stoll
