Greetings Survivors, This week is the culmination of the Da Vincipocalypse: The 12th grade overnight campout! After lots of planning and prototyping, presenting and building, you will finally get to spend a night in the shelters you have created in response to the apocalyptic scenario that you have designed. Click below to for a glimpse at what our week will look like, as well as project materials and resources: |
Students should come ready to build by bringing materials they got from Trash4Teaching or found off campus. Students will have a majority of the class period to work on their shelters, or to work on their Survivor's Diaries.
Wed/Thurs (9/23, 9/24): Finalizing Shelters: For our second block of the week, students will resume and finish the work that they have been doing to build their model shelters.
Students should come ready to build by bringing materials they got from Trash4Teaching or found off campus. Students will have a majority of the class period to work on their shelters, or to work on their Survivor's Diaries.
REMINDER: ALL Seniors participating in the Da Vincipocalypse should arrive no later than 7pm in order to unpack any overnight supplies in their shelter while it is still light out. Students are expected to provide sleeping bags, pillows, flashlights, and any other items they will need to sleep comfortably in their shelters.
Friday (9/25): The End of the Da Vincipocalypse: After staying overnight, students will be waking up early in the morning to strike their shelters, clean the back field, and salvage any material that could be re-used from the shelters they have built.
Students should expect to be picked or leave campus by 7:30am on Friday, 9/25 - there are not classes that day, and students should leave campus before teachers' Professional Development meetings begin at 8am.
Get some sleep over your three-day weekend and remember: your Survivor's Diaries are due in class when you return from the weekend.
